Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is commonly referred to as Photorejuvenation or Photofacial. This convenient procedure can eliminate signs of aging quickly and easily by reducing the appearance of sun damage, age spots, enlarged pores, fine lines, broken blood vessels/capillaries and background redness. At Schaumburg Dermatology we use the most advanced form of IPL, called Broadband Light (BBL), to provide your skin with a vibrant, revitalized appearance.
Treatment Areas
The Intense Pulse Light is gentle and non-ablative, and it can be applied to a wide range of areas on the body that have experienced any kind of aging or sun damage. The procedure is also a great option to help minimize the side effects of rosacea. Popular treatment areas include the face, neck, décolleté (chest), and hands.
Treatment Results
When a client receives Intense Pulse Light treatments, the result is a more even, brighter complexion, which provides a healthier, younger-looking appearance. Sunspots, age spots, benign brown pigments, and unattractive redness caused by broken capillaries may be eliminated during this process.
How it Works
Using the “Forever BBL” module from Sciton, a broad range of wavelengths are emitted from a dual-light flash lamp for targeted treatment of a wide variety of skin conditions. The mild heat sensation felt during the procedure results from the light penetrating the tissue and being absorbed by the skin’s vessels and melanin cells. Afterward, the treated area will look flush (slightly pink). Any previous dark pigmented lesions will initially appear darker and will naturally slough off and heal to bring forth fresher skin and a more even complexion.
